We have had a busy couple of weeks. It’s still hot, and now the peak of tourist season is here so it’s crowded in Heraklion. I have continued to work on my Greek, learning more and more phrases. Jeff and I say certain phrases at home in Greek, helping me use it in everyday life is helping me remember words. We have not been stuck in the elevator, the electrical grid seems to be holding up, for now. We did have some earthquakes the other day which is kinda wild when it happens. I know it’s normal and usually small and brief but man, it’s weird. Jeff wasn’t home and I thought it was just the washing machine going and shaking the floor but then I realized, nope, the whole apartment was shaking. Bella definitely felt something and was not a fan. She started whimpering a bit. Then a 2nd one hit and really shook us. Luckily it was over quickly, and I started getting messages from friends to see if I felt it. I got a new App on my phone called Earthquake- for the record I now have Windy and Earthquake apps- what a world.
Another thing I braved this week was driving, alone. I think I’m getting more and more fearless about driving but it’s not something I enjoy, for sure. I know it means more freedom and my girls are coming in September and I want to be able to take us around, but I will never get used to the fast taxi drivers and buses. Mix those with some slow-driving tourists and you have a bit of a mess on the roads. I have yet to drive the tiny roads in a village and I’m not really sure I want to so there might be a bit of parking and walking with my girls next month.
So, let’s end this on a high note- we had family visiting! I love spending time with Jeff’s family- they are so fun and caring. They have always welcomed me into their family as one of their own, and it’s been amazing to be back together on Crete. Check out all the fun we have been having!

Until next time, here’s hoping for no more earthquakes, the electricity stays on and we have more fun this week with family. Also, if anyone has pull with the Greek government can you please ask them to hurry up on my VISA?
